On October 2, 2017 the Geneva Public Library officially launched the Super Readers Club program! Patrons 17 and under can sign up to be a part of this club and receive an unlimited number of checkouts for books and audiobooks that are fine free! Additional perks members can receive include a custom library card, invitations to members-only programs, reading challenges, tips, prizes, and more!
The Super Readers Club is part of the Library’s commitment to removing the barriers that discourage parents and children from obtaining library cards and using library materials. "We love that the Super Readers Club helps to reduce concerns about fines, but we are even more enthusiastic about how it celebrates the rewards of reading," said Library Director Chris Finger. "The initiative will put more books in the hands of Geneva's children, more words in their homes, and more excitement within the library."
“Weekly challenges will excite both parent and child to read certain books and to read towards fun incentives,” Youth Services Librarian Tanya Taylor said. “Our current 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program remains successful, but we hope that the Super Readers Club will encourage those children who finished the 1000 books and for children who are older to continue reading.”
Thanks to a grant from the Wyckoff Family Foundation, the Super Readers Club now begins its first year during which the Library will be analyzing data about library registrations and book borrowing statistics.
